the Green Man

cardboard, paper mache, fabric, collected sticks and bark, hiker's backpack, 2018.

Green men are sculptural representations of a man's face adorned or made up of leaves, decorating homely gardens and great cathedrals alike; they are generally symbolic of vegetative deities.

This more woody interpretation was featured in the 2018 production of Robin Hood, (and later reincarnated as the ghost of Henry Hudson in Rip Van Winkle (2018)) at the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival.
